March 7-11, 2022

Spring Benchmarks for intermediate students in math, reading, and science have been scheduled for March 8, 9, and 10th. Benchmarks will be structured as closely to STAAR testing as possible in order to give our students an opportunity to experience a simulated testing environment equal to the rigor of state assessment dates. This will help students to be more successful in time management and give teachers an opportunity to observe and make any needed changes before the May STAAR assessments. Our students have worked hard this year, and we are proud of the progress they have made.

Students need to bring a bottle of water and a healthy, dry snack.  (pretzels, nuts, cheerios, fruit snacks, etc.)      (NON-greasy, NON sticky, No chocolate)  Thank you!!

Early Release

Parents, this is a reminder that Wednesday, February 16th, is one of the Teacher Professional Development Days which was already scheduled in our school calendar, and students will have an early release time. Buses will run their regular routes beginning at that time. Please make sure that you have made plans for your child(ren)

Valentine’s Day Parties

Valentine’s Day plans:

We will have parties beginning at 1:30 PM and ending at 2:20 PM.  Doors will open to parents at 1:30 PM

  • Parents may donate food for the parties but everything needs to be prepackaged and sealed. No homemade goods, etc.
  • Parents wanting to attend the parties will park in the upper lot behind the MS (across the street from our campus sign by the pecan tree) to avoid jamming up our parking lot used for afternoon pick up.
  • Parents will be allowed to leave with their child at the end of the party

Talent Show Note from Music Class

Dear Parents/Guardians, It’s time for another in- class talent show! Next week, (Jan 31-Feb 4th) all 2nd-5th graders will have an in-class talent show DURING their music period. We have been talking about this in class, but I wanted to let you know the details as well. I want to encourage every child to participate. It would be great if they sang or played an instrument, but not every child is comfortable performing like that. Other options are researching a composer and telling 3-5 facts about that composer. They could do the same with a particular instrument. A student could also choose a modern group to research or a musical. The student can just write the facts down and read them or they may make a poster or print a picture to go with their facts. If they choose to sing or dance, please make sure the song is appropriate. It needs to be something they prepared. They are more than welcome to perform with a friend or practice a routine with a group (from their class) if they would rather do that! They are welcome to bring a CD or you can email the link to their song the day before class. I will have Youtube available as well, but would prefer the link to be sent in prior to the day your child has music. I would rather not take song requests that day. Please make sure the song is appropriate and no one would be offended by the lyrics. I will try to listen to the song before class but my time is limited so I am asking for your help with this. Everytime they get in front of the class, it will get a little easier. So many skills are being developed during this fun time and they don’t even know it! Thank you again for the privilege of teaching your child and for your help and support with activity! Brittany Fuller [email protected]
